Our Story
If you've heard anything about Chris & Lauren-Ashley's story, then you may have heard that they credit the beginning of their love story to Jesus and Roz, Lauren-Ashley's mom.
The way Chris tells it, he's known Lauren-Ashley's parents and some of her family even longer than he's known her. Chris and Lauren met at the Scott Boudin Festival in 2016 when Lauren-Ashley was volunteering and Chris was working as a volunteer fireman for the Scott Volunteer Fire Department. Over the next seven years they became acquaintances and casual friends. Chris worked across the country and world, but Lauren-Ashley never realized, because anytime there was a City of Scott event she was there . . . and so was Chris.
Here is where Jesus comes in. After many life changes, Lauren nurtured a deep personal Christian faith. She believed in God's plan for her life and that the person with whom she was meant to spend her life would come as God prescribed. As Lauren-Ashley describes it, the world shifted at the 2023 Scott Boudin Festival when, unsurprisingly, both Lauren and Chris were volunteering. This time they worked side-by-side all weekend long as Chris helped Lauren's pageant and media committees by volunteering his time and talents to photograph the weekend's events. Just as he had been for the last seven years, every time Lauren-Ashley looked around the festival for help . . . there was Chris with a helping hand.
Now, we know the Lord works in mysterious ways and can work through anyone - He chose to work through Roz. At the 2023 festival, Roz, in her signature eloquence, informed Chris that "Lauren needs a good man like you." and advised him to "shoot his shot". A few days later, Chris did indeed "shoot". He invited Lauren-Ashley to lunch at the Petroleum Club. That afternoon, they walked in as friends, but walked out as something so much more. The next few days they spent at a Lauren Daigle concert and exploring Festival Internationale de Louisiane.
Poetically, their first date sums up the life and relationship they have built together. A life of: God, Travel, Festivals, Laughter, and Joy!
Since then, Chris and Lauren-Ashley have explored New York, celebrated their engagement on a cruise with family, problem solved together through countless photoshoots, found a crazy love for long days at photography, festival, and legal conferences, awed at the beauty of Alaska and British Columbia, shared countless laughs and smiles at countless family and community events, flew many miles, drove even more miles, and through it all have used these and the day-to-day moments to find the joy in life and the wonder of God's plan.
Only God knows what else there is in store for Chris and Lauren's love story, but they are confident that by each other's side and the Grace of God, they will take on each day as adventure together to grow closer, to cherish joy, and to find gratitude for all of their blessings.
